Son Goku / Kakarot:  Is the protagonist of most of the story.  Grew almost isolated on Monte Paoz and around learning martial arts from his adoptive grandfather Gohan (who died long before the beginning of the series) and has a peculiarity:  it has a monkey tail (as an adult you discover that this is because it is not human but a Saiyan from the planet Vegeta where he was named Kakarotto-).  His adventure begins when he meets Bulma and accompanies her influence in their search for the Dragon Balls, seven magical spheres that give the possibility to bring them together to summon Shenlong, the dragon god able to grant a wish.  Along the way he meets Umigame (or just turtle) and Master Roshi (who gives him the flying cloud Kinton) and faces several opponents, including Pilaf, which also looks for areas with their minions Shu Mai and the intention to request the desire to dominate the world, and some opponents who end up joining the trip and being friends (Oolong, Yamcha and Puar).  Finished this adventure, Goku is mainly engaged in training to perfect as a martial artist, first under the teachings of Master Roshi (during which training meets Krillin mate will become your best friend) and then on his own recommendation of master himself. Over the years training alongside other powerful teachers (Korin, Mr. Popo and Kaiosama North), becoming more powerful, participating in various editions of the Tenkaichi Budokai (Tournament world's largest martial arts) and facing with many evil opponents who want to conquer or destroy the world and even the universe, so the Dragon Balls often go into the background and becomes the main protection of planet Earth.  At 18 he married Chichi (which asks marriage after his confrontation at the 23rd Tenkaichi Budokai), with which then has two children:  Son Gohan (named after his grandfather) and Son Goten.  Towards the end of the story also has a granddaughter named Pan (daughter of Gohan).
